Let’s Kōrero

Gambling harm impacts everyone, but it affects Māori the most. A significant challenge is the stigma, which keeps issues in the shadows and stops people from seeking support. In the mental health space, we’ve seen high-profile influencers like John Kirwan sharing their stories, which helps to normalise the conversation and makes it easier for others to talk about it. Gambling still has a lot of stigma in society, and a similarly high-profile ambassador doesn’t exist yet. Let’s Kōrero is built on the insight that for many Māori, our culture is an influencer. Our art, fashion, pūrākau, and worldviews are powerful influencers. If we can spark discussions within different aspects of our culture, maybe we can begin to shed some light on gambling harm and bring it out of the shadows. Watch the video below for the full story.
